Unsere Werft aus der Luft
The Sirius-Werft, established more than 35 years at the market, engages today, in the heart of the schleswig-holsteinischen Plön, 48 motivated boat builders, carpenters and technicians, who are manufacturing per year 12 - 14 Sirius decksaloon yachts in the most individual-orientated small series. Because of this existence at the market for many years, the outstanding development
concepts of firm founder Peter Schmidt and the requirement to fulfill always highest quality demands, made the small family business become a firm quality term of the industry, despite the small number of 604 ships in 38 years.

The concept of a pure sailing yacht that appeared first at the market 20 years ago (original rig, hull and unter water body of the well-known fast sailing yacht Sirius 31), was consistently developed further on until today.  Then it was taken up by our designer George Nissen with the Sirius 38 DS and secures a lead in development and design for the wharft until today in the conception of matureed, without restricting fun while sailing a deck saloon yacht.

The handicraft crew of the Sirius wharft, which is led since 7 years now by the boat building master Tosten Schmidt, son of the firm founder,  is pleased about the increasing interest of customers in the active, individually codesigning, which lets each individual Sirius yacht become a facet-rich and
unmistakable finger mark of the owners.

Surely the unusually strong customer connection, the unparalleled motivation and the personal commitment of the colleagues contributes to this success:
- 7 out of 20 built Sirius 38 went to owners, who possessed a 31 or 32 before
- through the intensive discussions and the usually very numerous visits during the 3-6 month taking     building phases, the customer directly has the chance to influence the individual design,
equipment and development variants.
- The motivation of the Sirius team, a majority of the ideas and experiences that are in the boats, and the fun, which is noticeable while working, results of the close contact, the many good hints and, rather after quite a short time, the mostly friendly relationship which adjusts itself during the
building phase between the owners and the crew.
– The hereby developed friendships led recently to the fact, that eight owners of new Sirius 32 DS & 38 DS yachts invited our entire team of 48 colleagues to a daily trip on their yachts, and after that decided, that this has to be repeated every year now.
– The Sirius Cup which is an event in May at the Ijsselmeer during the NRW-Cup and in September at the Baltic Sea, was invented five years ago and about 25 up to 30 Sirius yachts are taking part each year.
– Among them nearly all Sirius 32 which are resident in the Baltic Sea, owners, who traveled particularly from Denmark, Sweden 165 sm from the Baltic and the North Sea
– These events, with up to 200 participants, are an idea of our collegues. It is planned, organized and executed on a voluntary basis out of pure enthusiasm, only for the joy of the contact with the owners and the possibility to sail together with them. It is completely self-directed (3-days event  including breakfast, fish and salatbuffet, beverage bar, tombola and race committee).
- With 5 trainees per class each year new motivation and constructional ideas arise. Mostly the first places  in the associating examinations are held by Sirius trainees.

This combination of continuity, constant quality improvement, customer connection, coworker motivation and personal employment stands behind the success of one of the last wharfts in Germany, who produce high-quality handicraft yachts in small series.
